EVshield is a wall socket with a sturdy housing in which any mode-2 charging cable can be mounted, so that it is always ready for use and protected from the weather. Almost every electric vehicle comes with a mode-2 charging cable, also known as a home charger or travel charger, for charging via an ordinary wall socket. With EVshield, the EV owner thus easily creates a fixed charging point.
EVshield allows the mode-2 charger to be equipped with smart functionalities and thus integrated into a home automation network. This allows smart recharging during daylight hours, with off-peak charging or upon activation by remote control. The front panel can be personalized with a color of your choice and the unit can be locked. The cable can also be removed again, for example to take with you on vacation.
An electric vehicle is not charged as fast this way as with a regular charging station, but it is also by no means always necessary. The impact on the energy grid is also much less. Moreover, the EVshield is also a solution for places where there is insufficient capacity to install a regular charging station, such as holiday resorts and VVE parking facilities. When the EVshield is connected to the PreCharged network, anyone can recharge here, without a charging card or app. Charges are then paid in advance, just like a prepaid phone.
