Every year, Green Team Twente builds a hydrogen car. Since 2021, however, the design of this car is no longer focused on efficiency (with the goal of winning the Shell Eco Marathon), but rather on power (with the goal of participating in the international Formula Student Races). The goal is to further develop hydrogen-based transport and promote the application of hydrogen as an energy carrier in race cars in the Formula Student Races.

The Green Team Twente is the first and so far the only team competing in the Formula Student Races with a self-built race car running on hydrogen. The other teams drive electric cars. Meanwhile, both the car and the hydrogen system are completely ready. If all goes well, steps are now being taken to complete the integration.
